Quartzite

The look of marble, with the strength for a kitchen that gets used every day.

What it is

Sandstone, pressed by the earth into something harder.

Quartzite starts as sandstone. Over millions of years, heat and pressure fuse the grains into dense quartz. That's why it can look as soft as marble and still stand up to real life.

It's 100% natural. No two slabs match, which is the point: the one you pick in our gallery is the one in your home.

Where it works best

Made for the rooms you live in.

How to care for it

Simple, if you know these four things.

Quartzite is low-maintenance, not no-maintenance. Here's what we tell every client.

  1. 01
Seal itQuartzite is natural stone, so it can absorb spills. A good sealer keeps it protected. Ask us how often to reseal your slab.
  2. 02
Wipe up spillsWine, oil and coffee are fine if you don't leave them sitting. Warm water and a soft cloth do the job.
  3. 03
Use a stone cleanerSkip bleach, vinegar and harsh sprays. They wear down the sealer. We carry a cleaner made for natural stone.
  4. 04
Use a trivet for very hot pansQuartzite handles heat well. A trivet protects the sealer and avoids sudden temperature shock.
