White marble blocks in a mountain quarry under a bright sky
About · At the Source

We pick our stone at the quarry.

Before a slab reaches our gallery, someone from our team has usually stood in front of the block it came from.

Why we travel

Catalogs don’t show you the stone.

Natural stone changes from block to block. Color, movement and quality can shift within the same quarry. So we go see it. Our team visits quarries and factories in Brazil and Italy every few months, and China about once a year.

Standing at the quarry face, we choose the material ourselves, build relationships with the people who cut it, and bring home stone you won’t find at every showroom.

White marble, cut from inside a mountain.

At Colorado Stone Quarries the marble is cut from deep inside the mountain. Walking the galleries shows you how much one block can vary, and why we pick by hand.

Black and white waves with veins of gold. We stood at this quarry face in Minas Gerais before choosing what to bring home to New Orleans.

What it means for you

Why it matters in your kitchen.

01

Stone that’s hard to find

We work directly with quarries and suppliers, so some of what’s in our gallery is hard to find anywhere else.

02

We know where it came from

When you ask about a slab, we can tell you where it was quarried and what to expect from it.

03

The right stone for the job

Seeing material at the source helps us tell you honestly what will hold up in your kitchen, bar or bath.

“Every stone tells a story. Our job is to help it speak.”
Elias de Castro, Director of Sales and Business Development
