Granite

The workhorse of natural stone. Built for Louisiana heat, inside and out.

What it is

Born from cooled magma.

Granite forms deep underground as molten rock cools slowly into interlocking crystals. That's what gives it its strength, and its speckle, swirl and sparkle.

It comes in more colors than any other natural stone, from deep blacks to bright whites, and it costs less than most exotics. Hard to beat for a kitchen that works hard.

How to care for it

The easiest stone to live with.

Granite asks very little. A few habits keep it looking new for decades.

  1. 01
Clean with soap and waterWarm water, a little mild soap and a soft cloth handle almost everything.
  2. 02
Seal if your stone needs itSome granites barely absorb anything. Lighter ones can. Ask us what your slab needs.
  3. 03
Skip harsh chemicalsBleach and abrasive pads wear down the finish over time. A stone cleaner keeps the shine.
  4. 04
Outdoors, rinse it now and thenPollen, leaves and grill grease wash right off with a hose and a soft brush.
